Charlie here. We’re DJing at Le Bain tonight (Friday) from 10 pm til late. Ren G performs live around midnight. New music blog below…

Quick blog with brand new stuff:
“Bon Bon - Andrew VanWyngarden remix” - Fcukers + MGMT
MGMT’s singer reimagines the best track on Fcukers’s recent EP, taking the certified club banger and making it sound like something you might imagine in a particularly weird dream. Most of the bass is gone, and Shanny’s vocals are filtered and pitch-manipulated so that they sound borderline demonic. The track opens up with a drop 3 minutes in, which is basically the original track’s opening drop minus some of the low end. This remix would probably pair nicely with lying on an inflatable raft in the middle of a pool sipping a mojito worrying about getting sunburned or bitten by mosquitos but too lazy to move — it’s relaxed yet paranoid, and almost hypnotic.
“Spark” - EZ Company
Ezra’s truly great second single, with guest vocals from Jo Roman of Starcleaner Reunion. The instrumental outro on this has a particularly beautiful interplay between multiple synths and the simple clean strum of an electric guitar. One of the best music videos I’ve seen in a while, shot in one of those (soon vanishing) orange subway cars, and on the snowy streets of NYC in a tiny little automobile. Something about the cinematography / color grading reminds me of a Ryusuke Hamaguchi film:
I Don’t Have That Problem - Laszlo Horvath
Lastly, a new EP from Laszlo Horvath. Another LaGuardia alum, but I don’t think we ever met back in high school (actually it’s possible we still haven’t met, despite lots of mutuals). If I’m being honest, I used to think he and Jackson Walker Lewis were the same person when I would see them a few years ago at Clandestino and I hadn’t heard either of their music yet; they have a similar vibe/height/hair. Laszlo’s new EP is a big departure from the raucous full-band sound of Laszlo and the Hidden Strength (their best song was this one, which totally ripped live). It’s surprising that in his new solo music, Laszlo’s voice — confident and up-front in the mixes of his old project — is now de-emphasized, with the focus much more on the (excellent, wide-ranging) orchestration. The album art is a disconcerting painting, I like it. If you’ve been listening to Cameron Winter’s Heavy Metal for a month and you’re starting to get sick of it like I have/am, I suggest you check this out.
See you tonight at Le Bain.
